Natalie Portman reveals how they made her look 10 inches taller Thor: Love and Thunder for his new role as the six-foot-tall Mighty Thor. Following 2017 Thor: Ragnarok and 2019 Avengers: EndgameChris Hemsworth’s Thor Is Set To Appear Once More In Taika Waititi Thor: Love and Thunder. The film is set to introduce a new villain to the MCU, Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, and bring back Portman’s Jane Foster, albeit a more muscular version of the character who took on the mantle of the Mighty Thor.

In a new interview with Variety, Portman explains that in order to describe her as the six-foot-tall Mighty Thor, the production used a fairly simple behind-the-scenes method. After rehearsing the scene to find out exactly where she would be walking, the crew built a 10-inch-tall deck that she would walk through while filming the actual scene. Though invisible on camera, the simple technique makes Portman the appropriate height alongside taller colleagues like Hemsworth. Check out Portman’s comment below:

We rehearsed the scene, they saw the path, and then they built a path that was like a foot off the ground or whatever, and I just walked on it.

Thor Love and Thunder Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman as Thor Odinson and Jane Foster Won't Be Afraid of Romance

While fans are still a little in the dark in terms of which version of Jane’s Mighty Thor will appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, clearly there was an effort to impress audiences with the character’s new physicality. With Hemsworth’s Thor seemingly going through a mid-life crisis in the new film and struggling to know if he wants to be a superhero anymore, Jane’s new form has the potential to exacerbate that inner conflict and make him feel like he’s not. even more inappropriate. It remains to be seen, however, to what extent Jane’s new role in Thor: Love and Thunder I’ll stick with the comics.

After being primarily portrayed as a damsel in distress in both Thor and Thor: The Dark WorldJane has the opportunity to finally become a superhero Thor: Love and Thunder. The character will no longer rely on another hero to save or protect her, a change that will allow for a whole new dynamic between Jane and Thor. While many details about the role of Portman’s Mighty Thor in the story remain unknown, audiences don’t have to wait much longer to find out, with Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled to open in theaters on July 8.
