Shock: Emily Miller revealed she suffered an ectopic pregnancy on Friday after discovering she was pregnant ‘a few weeks ago’ with her boyfriend Cam Holmes

The television personality explained that despite the “shock” pregnancy, she was “quite excited” before being admitted to the ER with an upset stomach earlier this week.

Alongside a photo of her hospital bed, Emily wrote: “So a few weeks ago I found out I was pregnant. While it was a shock, it was something I was also quite excited about.

“However, on Tuesday. I passed out while in stores. I can’t even describe the pain to you – it felt like my whole stomach was falling apart and I was quickly rushed to the hospital. I waited in the emergency room until 3 pm the next day, when I finally took my exam.’

She continued, “When I lay on the table shaking Cam’s hand, the two nurses were so silent. I asked if everything was ok and she replied ‘I will ask my colleague for a second opinion’ as the 3 nurses got together and confirmed that I had something called an ectopic pregnancy.

“For those who haven’t heard of it (like me) it’s basically where the fetus gets stuck and grows in your fallopian tube, which is fatal and if I had left it much longer my fallopian tube would burst.

“It’s one of those things you think will never happen to you. I was so scared. Not only was I about to lose my baby, but I was about to have my fallopian tube removed with the potential of my ovary as well.

‘All I wanted to do was talk to my mother and I’m sure I scared all the poor women in that waiting room with my crying.’

Going into more detail about the surgery, she added: “I hadn’t eaten or drunk for 24 hours at this point because I had to be on an empty stomach for the exam and possible surgery.

“So you can see in the picture that I was sniffing the protein cookie from the camera because I was really hungry. But at least they finally gave me a bed, which meant I was hours away from this pain. But that felt too bitter and too sweet.

‘At 10 pm on Wednesday, I was taken into surgery and I don’t know who was crying more, me or Cam, but I was extremely emotional, to say the least.’

“I asked Cam to bring me a food and drink list for when I got back, but I had a panic attack when I woke up. I took a dose of morphine because I was in so much pain that I felt sick and had to go straight to sleep.’

Tough: Emily concluded her heartfelt post: 'Physically, I'm still in a lot of pain and bedridden after the surgery, but mentally it's been even harder'

Emily concluded her heartfelt post: “After a few more blood tests and some breakfast, I was discharged yesterday afternoon. Physically I’m still in a lot of pain and bedridden after the surgery, but mentally it’s been even more difficult.’

An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, usually in the fallopian tube, which means a baby is unable to develop and leaves the mother’s health in jeopardy.

Although there is a chance of a new conception, it is advisable for the woman to wait a while due to the damage done to the fallopian tube.

Emily and Cam met on the second season of Too Hot To Handle in June 2021 and, having lived together for just a month and a half in their relationship, Camily was the only couple on the show to survive in the real world.

Season two finalists previously revealed that they had sex seven times a day for a week when the show ended.

The couple had an instant connection from the moment they entered the village and admitted they got a little carried away when they were finally able to sleep together.

Speaking on the PrettyLittleThing podcast, Emily and Cam revealed that their friends were ‘worried’ about them and said their sex life might be ‘a little too much’.

Cam said, ‘We had an instant connection that wasn’t shown as much in the first episode, but we were instantly drawn to each other, which made things a lot more difficult.’

What is an ectopic pregnancy?

An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants outside the uterus, usually in one of the fallopian tubes.

The fallopian tubes are the tubes that connect the ovaries to the uterus. If an egg gets stuck in them, it will not develop into a baby and your health could be at risk if the pregnancy continues.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to save the pregnancy. It usually has to be removed using medicine or an operation.

In the UK, around 1 in 90 pregnancies are ectopic. That’s about 11,000 pregnancies a year.

An ectopic pregnancy does not always cause symptoms and can only be detected during a routine pregnancy exam.

If you have symptoms, they tend to develop between the 4th and 12th week of pregnancy.

Symptoms can include a combination of: missed periods and other signs of pregnancy, tummy ache on one side, vaginal bleeding or watery brown discharge, pain at the tip of the shoulder, and discomfort when peeing or pooping
