WWE NXT Preview (June 7, 2022): Start over

NXT 2.0 returns tonight (June 7) live at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando!

Announced for this week’s edition of the show:

  • Last Saturday’s Fallout In your home
  • Tiffany Stratton vs Roxanne Perez in the Women’s Breakout Tournament Finals
  • Von Wagner x Josh Briggs
  • Alba Fyre vs Tatum Paxley

As usual, here are our five questions about NXT tonight:

1) Who’s next?

In your home featured five title fights. Only two belts have changed hands and will likely receive the WWE rematch treatment. The other three should be in the queue for new challengers.

NXT champion Bron Breakker took everything Joe Gacy and his minions threw at him and still beat them while (mostly) controlling his temper. If the Gacy dispute continues, the online claims will be leveled off.

Toxic Attraction has retained all of the brand’s women’s titles, and since they are jumps they won through less than honorable means, their opponents could argue for one more round. Well, women’s champion Mandy Rose didn’t cheat to beat Wendy Choo, but destroying pillows isn’t a noble act. Regardless, as much as I love Choo, this show probably doesn’t need to continue. Kayden Carter and Katana Chance have a much better argument when it comes to women’s titles. Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne attacked them before the match and didn’t even come close to following the rules in the end. The KCs’ title match came late, and given the way WWE has always booked them, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Dolin & Jayne just… moved on.

Of the title changes, Carmelo Hayes, regaining the North American championship from Cameron Grimes, showed enough extracurricular activity through Trick Williams to warrant a rematch. And with the quality of work Hayes and Grimes have been doing lately, we’re not even going to pretend to be mad about a rematch or rematches in this rivalry. Add Solo Sikoa, who received a promise from Grimes that Melo probably won’t want to honor? This is one of the most interesting scenes in all of WWE right now.

Pretty Deadly will definitely try to get NXT matchmakers to say “Yes Boy!” for a chance to regain their belts from The Creeds. But Julius & Brutus probably still have other business to attend to…

2) Is Diamond Mine OK now?

Upon winning the NXT Tag titles, The Creeds stay at Diamond Mine. But how will they feel when they receive an ultimatum from Roderick Strong, especially as there was already tension over Roddy’s recruitment of Damon Kemp…among other things. And did Strong really think they would win, or was this an attempt to reshape the group in his image that backfired? I think we are still heading for a civil war sooner or later.

3) How will Legado Del Fantasma handle reporting to Tony D’Angelo?

Speaking of civil wars, no one really has room to complain about cheating when it comes to Stacks arresting Joaquin Wilde. In your homeit’s opener. Both teams made all the stops, the Don’s team that came out on top was exactly the way this particular cannoli disintegrated. So where does the story go from here? How miserable will Santos Escobar and Tony D’Angelo’s teams become? Maybe you should try some team building exercises?

4) Will Tiffany Stratton be the beneficiary of Nikkita Lyons’ injury?

Author’s Note: I SWEAR the Women’s Breakout Tournament final was listed in WWE.com’s preview for last week’s show when I wrote ours. But I could be wrong. I’m still reusing this anyway.

The spoiled rich little girl essentially got a goodbye in the second round of the Women’s Breakout Tournament after Lyons injured her knee and had to withdraw. After a rocky start with her character, Stratton won over fans with her commitment to the gimmick and good performances on the mic and in the ring.

She’ll have a chance to win the tournament tonight when she faces a talent who’s received a big push from the gate – former Ring of Honor Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez (fka Rok-C). It could go either way, but my guess is that Stratton gets the win (perhaps with an assist from his partner in crime Grayson Waller), so has to prove she deserved her spot in the first place when Nikkita returns.

5) How many weeks of Fabian Aichner Giovanni Vinci teasers we will have before he appears?

Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing pictures of luxury goods in Italy as much as any other guy.

But hopefully we don’t have to wait until the July 5th Great American Bash for Vinci to (re)debut. We expect this week’s teaser to end with “next week”.
